Had it. I did Burn N' Return for a little over a year, then canceled last fall, I watched maybe 6 movies so far. _________________ Liberalism Is A Mental Disorder. For Proof See The XMFan Political Forum.

On Orbitcast back in May 2005 they said National Lampoon was launching a 24/7 radio network in January 2006 for major FM markets and a special programming channel for one of the satellite radio services. The guess at the time was XM.
Another article from January 2006 talks about it launching in the spring and mentions:
| Quote: | The core offering of the National Lampoon Radio Network will be two 24/7 radio formats set to launch this spring. The first is a "hot talk" FM format blending guy talk, politics and comedy for "guys, and chicks who get it"--aimed at Howard Stern listeners who haven't made the jump with him to Sirius Satellite Radio Inc.
Network chief executive and longtime radio show host Kent Emmons says the format is designed to push the envelope without imperiling a station's FCC license. Edgier fare will be reserved for a satellite version, and the network has been in discussions about that with both Sirius and XM Satellite Radio Inc.
"We're the most recognized brand in comedy so they want the brand affiliation," said Emmons, founder and former chairman of another radio network, Hollywood-based All Comedy Networks. He said that at least three L.A. stations are in serious talks about switching to either the hot-talk format or a second 24/7 format more tightly focused on pre-recorded comedy with a live host. |
Now, if you go to nationallampoonradio.com there is a link there to XM Radio on the bottom left. They also show their 24/7 network as "coming soon" still. So I don't know if this wishful thinking on National Lampoon's part or if this is actually a done deal that is coming. It does look like there has been something in the works for this for quite some time.
Now, I wonder which format we'd get: the hot-talk format or the pre-recorded comedy with live host format?
Someone's fast on Wikipedia too as it has already been added there as a channel coming soon. _________________ Jeff - sub Jun 03 - Nov 08

Wow, nice find ffuege !!!
I'm leaning for the hot talker myself, even though I have no idea what it is. A 4th comedy channel would be a little much. I wonder what happens to Special X on XMRO (currently at the 154 spot) ? Hopefully its just moved to another channel .... _________________ ~Td~

And still my original question still remains unanswered. Where did the screen shot come from? _________________ Liberalism Is A Mental Disorder. For Proof See The XMFan Political Forum.

It's a really good looking fake if it is. I would guess that it's real, but don't take it as an absolute given until you see press releases saying it will happen and an actual start date. There's been rumors of channel additions before that didn't happen. (JPop anyone?) _________________ Jeff - sub Jun 03 - Nov 08

I won't believe its a done deal until I see a press release or its on XM's website, but I also don't believe that was a fake logo. _________________ Jeff - sub Jun 03 - Nov 08

I don't think "Radio Wasabi" ever went beyond that audio blog. NLR now has a website, past connections to XM, and I guess that channel guide clip if Dave_A ever tells us the source!? _________________ ~Td~

| I find it odd that GM's website has a new, updated channel guide while XM's Official website still has the old channel guide with MSNBC still shown in the line-up. |

if that's true, and this channel does come to satellites... i'll chalk up another bad update issue with xmradio's website.
definately not the early bird catching the worm over there... _________________ MLBelot #1 - The Crimson One
