|I have searched all over the web looking for ideas on where people installed their XM radios in '09+ F-series trucks... With out finding much of anything, I thought I would post some of my own, and how I did it. I am pretty satisfied with the results.
First I ran the antenna wire from the 3rd brake light into the truck under the headliner, down the B pillar? not sure what its called in a truck. I then went under the door sills, back up under the dash, and came out in the center at the floor. What you dont want to do on these years is run it above the door, There are side curtain airbags!http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb455/Jadd6810/antenna.jpg?t=1346706512
To hard wire the power, I took advice from others and used an add a circuit from the parts store. Not my pic, but same thing... I found on my truck fuse 41 is the one I wanted. In my truck when you turn off the truck the radio stays on until you open the door... I wanted my XMP3 to do the same. Here is the add a circuit installed... its the red wire. http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb455/Jadd6810/Addafuse.jpg?t=1346706512
I ran the power to the cigarette lighter adapter thing that I believe comes with the car kit and grounded the other wire. The power wire runs under the dash and meets the antenna in the middle on the floor.
The hardest part of the installation was figuring out how to run the antenna and power to the radio with little to no wires showing. To do this I ran both pair under the carpet to the center console, which had to be removed. I drilled a hole through the bottom set of cup holders, there are alot in the new F150's, I used this cup holder mount http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0057QYME2/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00
I drilled holes in it and brought the wires though. There is absolutely no slack in the wires, I would liked to have one more inch of wire, but I was pushing it! Here are my pictures of the final install. http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb455/Jadd6810/frontview.jpg?t=1346706519 Sorry for the glare from the seats. The backside view... http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb455/Jadd6810/backview.jpg?t=1346706518 There is just enough slack to extend the cup holders all the way out, and just enough to remove the stem of the mount to shut the cup holder tray to vacuum under it.
